The Greeks Walk for Lupus Challenge of the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Washington Chapter (LFAGW), invites you to participate and help raise money and awareness for the 4th Annual Walk for Lupus Now, taking place on Saturday, April 17, 2010.

The Challenge is simple: The top 3 Greek Walk teams will be recognized; with the team that raises the most money being recognized as the Greek Organization of the Year at our Walk awards ceremony, and in LFAGW’s publications and website. To participate all you have to do is follow these steps:

1. Start a team at
2. Recruit members from your organization for your Walk team.
3. Start fundraising as a team. Here are some ideas to get you going:

* Host a car wash or raffle.
* Host a Lupus Awareness Seminar and collect donations. (For lupus information to distribute or to book a speaker, contact LFAGW.)
* Check our website and click on the “Walk for Lupus Now Walker/Team Tools” tab on the left-hand side for more helpful tips.

The Walk benefits the Lupus Foundation of America Greater Washington Chapter (LFAGW), the region’s sole provider of critical programs and patient services for those who are affected by Lupus. Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease for which there is no cure. The disease affects nearly 75,000 people, in the greater metro area of DC, the majority of who are women between the ages of 18 and 44; in fact, NINETY PERCENT of all lupus patients are women! Lupus is also two to three times more likely to affect women of color.

We hope that you and your organization will accept the Challenge and help us make a difference in the lives of those afflicted by lupus. Visit to sign up today!
