Pitchfork.com provides updates on Haiti relief benefit concerts

Posted by Katina on January 22, 2010 at 6:06 pm

I tweeted recently that I plan to blog about upcoming benefit concerts for Haiti. In academia we sometimes write about “concert causes” – analyzing them as social activism, philanthropy, and (even) self promotion. But putting theory aside, benefit concerts provide a means for their celebrity participants to show their support, utilize their celebrity/talents for a good cause, and help focus viewers/listeners on how they can donate their funds to the benefiting cause/charity.

Pitchfork.com has been reporting on series of benefit concerts for Haiti that will be taking place around the country in the days/weeks to come as well as those being simulcasted on network/cable tv and the internet. For their list, updated Jan. 20, 2010, click on http:/home/katinara/public_html/katinaraestapleton.com/bit.ly/8oujmG.

Help Haiti,
